We all love a soft and supple skin texture, but there is a fine line to how much your skin actually wants to be exfoliated. The key is to finding the optimum interval between removing your dead skin cells to a brighter and fresher you!
As a rule of thumb we suggest exfoliating once a week. After 4 weeks of exfoliating your skin at this interval you can try progressing to twice a week. See what happens, does your skin get pink, irritated, breakout, or even become flaky? If so then that indicates that your skin prefers a weekly exfoliation.
Over exfoliation of the skin can also lead to an impaired skin barrier. This means your skin is more vulnerable to the elements, bacteria, pollution and becoming just down right irritated. A healthy, vibrant, bouncy and balanced skin will have a strong skin barrier that protects the under lying layers of the skin. Your skin tends to lose more water (hydration) when the barrier is impaired, so a great way to get more bounce into your skin is to make sure your barrier is happy and your skin is retaining is natural water content.
We created our Desert Lime Enzyme Mask for all skins - all skins deserve an exfoliation that will not stress the skin out. The perfect balance of Lactic Acid along with enzymes such as Pineapple and Papaya will digest dead keratin (aka your dead skin cells) whilst infusing Vitamin C that is naturally abundant in the Australian native Desert Lime. Desert Lime rejuvenates the skin and hydrates the skin by binding water molecules. Combats redness and is an effective antioxidant and anti-inflammitory.
Rutin from the Flame Tree surges an abundance of antioxidants to scavenge free radicals (with a similar super star performance to ascorbic acid), brighten the skin as well as being a great wound healer and antibacterial.
Apply a thin layer of enzymes over clean, dry skin, and leave on for 3-15 minutes. Do not apply on eyelids or open wounds.
